Using Cast Iron throughout gives the strength and rigidity to this mortiser, to allow timbers of up to 100mm x 100mm to be clamped securely. There are then two separate controls for moving the table. Firstly the operator winds the table forwards or back until the chisel is aligned with the back edge of the mortice. Secondly the lever is turned to move the table left or right until the chisel is positioned at one end of the mortice. Pulling the main handle lowers the chisel and begins the cut. Once the first square has been cut, the chisel is withdrawn, and the table moved over to begin the next square. Once the complete length of the mortice has been cut, the table can then be wound backwards as required to create a wider mortice. The motor has been specially produced to run at a lower rpm than standard motors, which gives a better cut, with less chance of burning.
This method of working is much more accurate, faster to achieve results and a great deal easier than using the traditional style of morticer with a fixed bed.
Supplied with, mortice depth stop, chuck key holder, work clamp, adjustable back fence, cable and plug.
The main picture also show the optional drilling conversion kit, allowing the morticer to be converted in to a pillar drill.
